The Daxigou Meteorological Station was established in June 1958, located on the mountainside of Tian'er Peak in Daxigou, Urumqi County (next to the No.1 Glacier at the source of the Urumqi River in the Tianshan Mountains), with a distance of 3543.8 meters. It is a national first-class hardship station mainly engaged in cloud physics experiments and climate monitoring. In 1975, it was handed over to the Urumqi Meteorological Bureau for management.
