However, the difficulty of ion separation by membrane is well known, which seriously restricts the application of membrane technology in the recovery of metal resources from industrial wastewater. In this paper, a reasonable molecular level design method is proposed to modify the ion imprinted polymer layer on PVDF membrane. In ion imprinted membrane (IIM), specific host guest binding sites were prepared along the membrane pores. The higher the monomer dose, the higher the rejection of Cd2+, and the more binding sites in IIM. The binding of IIM to Cd2+ is 1.84 times higher than that of non-ionic imprinted membrane (NIM). Osmotic selectivity factor of IIM in mixed ionic solution( γ) Greater than 5.39. Chemical properties and density functional theory (DFT) calculations show that the Cd2+ recognition sites of functional groups Cs and Cs Cd2+ mass transport IIM indicate that the imprinting effect provides a binding force to delay the penetration of Cd2+ through IIM in order to selectively separate Cd2+ from other ions. Imprinting effect may inspire a new molecular level membrane design method to improve ion selectivity. The data set of delayed permeation mechanism of ion imprinted membrane enhanced Cd2+ selective separation was obtained by experimental method.
